We’ve all been there: Peering in the mirror, heart sinking at the sight of a fine line here, a wrinkle there. It’s enough to send us running to the closest department store to find the latest miracle product, hefty price tag or weird ingredients be damned. And, sure, while many of these products might actually help slow the aging process, most are full of chemicals that may do more harm than good. So, what are we to do? How can these signs of aging skin be prevented in a feel good, natural way? Is there really such a thing as natural anti-aging skin care?
The answer is yes, and the solution is actually kind of simple: Start by taking a look in your kitchen cupboard or at your daily habits.
Lather up with sesame oil. Little known fact: Sesame oil is one of the best ways to fight signs of aging skin. It cleanses and clears away all the dead cells, giving it a youthful glow, and can be used as a cleansing and moisturizing agent across your whole body.
How to use it: Before going to shower, massage a tablespoon of sesame oil over your face and body. Just make sure you rinse off the oil in shower afterwards; unsurprisingly, the stuff is rather oily.
Take a fish oil supplement. We know: Yum. But hear us out—if you don’t already take fish oil supplements every day, you should. Fish oil boasts a lot of anti-inflammatory properties, which, in addition to making you appear more glow-y in that moment, also act as effective anti-aging products in the longterm.
How to use it: Pick up some omega-3 fish capsules, and watch those signs of fine lines and wrinkles decrease.
Make a white sugar scrub. White sugar! The horror! We kid. Yet while we do recommend avoiding white sugar in your daily diet (it can actually increase the signs of aging!), we also recommend fully embracing it in your skin care regime.
How to use it: Using raw white sugar on your body can act as an exfoliant. Take a tablespoon, and rub over your body once a week before you shower for smoother, younger-looking skin.
Get your beauty sleep. The best natural anti-aging skin care tip is to sleep a lot. A little “Thanks, Mom”-y advice, sure, but it’s true: Not getting enough shut-eye can cause dark circles under your eyes, lead you to overeat sweet stuff, and cause premature aging (!!).
What does that mean? Make sure you aim for at least 6-8 hours of sleep at night. It will do wonders for your skin health and make all the dark spots go away.
Clean up your diet. Yep: Eating right can naturally reduce the signs of aging skin.
What does that mean? Include plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. Eliminate processed food. Witness your skin glow.
