Self care is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself. Recognizing that you sometimes need to take that important step can be hard, but pampering yourself can be as easy as drawing a bath and disconnecting for a while. Now that I am blessed with an apartment with a tub, I myself have recently rediscovered the joys of a nice soak. Whether I’m feeling stressed or sore, or even when I feel the beginning of a cold coming on, I can simply turn on a faucet and melt.
Of course, there are endless bath additives that people swear by — epsom salts, countless Lush products, even mustard. But my favorite easy way to step up my pamper game? Vegan creamer.
That’s right. Coconut milk powder, often used as a vegan alternative to coffee creamer, becomes a softening, silky ingredient in this, the easiest bath soak recipe of all time. Here’s what you’ll need.
- 1 cup coconut milk powder
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
Simply mix the mixture together and store in an airtight container and add a little (or a lot) to your bath whenever you feel the need to indulge.
If you’re feeling in need of aromatherapy as well as a relaxing bath, feel free to add a few drops of your favorite essential oil (or oils, plural) to the baking soda before mixing the ingredients together. Go tropical with a dash of lime essential oil (which purports to have antiseptic properties beneficial for skin), or perhaps a dash of seductive santal sandalwood oil, or go all in on the relaxation with a hint of vanilla.
The holidays may be over, but, as an FYI, this is the perfect gift for anyone in your life. It’s inexpensive, customizable, and deeply personal. After all, who doesn’t know someone who could use a luxurious bath soak?
