A bit about those blue pools and hot pools in New Zealand:
Blue Pools Just about one hour from Wanaka on the west coast of the South Island of New Zealand, the Blue Pools offer a short walk and stunning scenery along the Makarora River. The water is vibrant, iridescent turquoise as a result of the sunlight refracting off the surface of the icy mountain runoff.
In order to access the largest area of the Blue Pools, there is a swingbridge that is a must for Instagram photos.
Onsen Hot Pools If there is one activity you do while in Queenstown, this would be it. You can easily pay $500 for a hot air balloon ride or $200 to go bungee jumping, but the Onsen Hot Pools provides a space to simply relax into the beauty of this town. We signed up for the option that included a glass of red wine and chocolate, and smiled like giddy children the entire time.
If you do want to take advantage of being in the “adventure capital of the world” and do some extreme activities, spend your last night in Queenstown here soaking your weary muscles—you’ll thank me later.
