What To Pack To Stay Healthy (And Sane!) On-The-Go

Make a little room in that carry-on for these five things. You'll thank us when you arrive happy, hydrated and (dare we say it) refreshed.

Staying healthy while traveling can be one of the biggest challenges you’ll face when it comes to maintaining your wellness goals. All that airport food! All those new restaurants! And nary a gym in sight! (Well, not your gym, anyway.) This is when those daily routines and healthy habits fall by the wayside. But we are here to help, since we see no reason that a vacation, work trip or family visit should derail the health and fitness goals you’ve been working so hard to achieve and maintain. All you need is, well, to be prepared. Here, what to pack to stay healthy while you’re on the go.

Essential oils are a NECESSITY in that travel bag: They keep body and mind revitalized throughout the journey, and provide relief and relaxation you when you feel stressed. Add a few drops of peppermint oil in some warm water for a fresh pick-me-up, or massage a few drops of lavender oil into your temples for an instant stress relief. (Or relief from that enclosed and stuffy airplane cabin.)

Load up on snacks. This is a no-brainer, but surely we aren’t the only ones who intended to do this and then found themselves helplessly grabbing a bag of Chex Mix as boarding begins. Before you leave for the airport, stock up on protein bars, nuts and raw veggies to keep your appetite down—and willpower strong.

Bring a reusable water bottle, and refill, refill, refill. Hydration is the key to staying healthy when traveling, especially on those long flights. Finish your water while you are in line at security, and refill it up after. Take regular sips throughout the flight so you de-plane looking as fresh as the proverbial daisy.

Pack your workout gear. The chance that you will use it increases oh-so-much just by bringing it.

Supplement your diet. It is always a good idea to have green supplements and vitamins on hand during travels. Traveling can cause a lot of stress in the body, so vitamins will help keep your immune system strong and ensure you’re getting all of your essential nutrients. Try adding some powdered greens into your water and take a multivitamin in the morning to keep your body firing strong.

Now, off you go!
